A builder sawed a uniform length of timber in half. Then he sawed each half in half. Then he sawed each of those pieces in half. If the original length weighed exactly two kilos, can you explain how much each final piece weighs?

Answer- Each piece is a little less than an eighth of the original because in the process of sawing some wood is lost as sawdust. Hence, each piece would weigh just a little less than a quarter of a kilo.
